Join the HLAA Mid-Hudson Chapter for an informative session on Cochlear Implants.

Are you or a loved one struggling to hear even with hearing aids? You are not alone. Take the next step to address your hearing loss and join us for an educational event to learn about hearing loss and implantable solutions. During this session, we will discuss hearing loss, implantable technology, and how a hearing implant can benefit you in your everyday life, and more!

Details: Social time will be from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM. We will start Zoom at 5:15, and the regular meeting will begin from 5:15 PM to 6:30 PM.

Allison Leasure
Engagement Manager for Cochlear Americas

Allison Leasure is an Engagement Manager for Cochlear Americas, based in New York City, where she provides outreach and individualized support to implant candidates throughout New York and New Jersey.

A licensed speech-language pathologist, Allison earned her master’s degree from The George Washington University and her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University.

She is deeply passionate about helping individuals with hearing loss develop and maintain their full communication potential across the lifespan. Before joining Cochlear, Allison worked at the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in New York and The River School in Washington, D.C., where she focused on supporting children with hearing loss and worked closely with their families and multidisciplinary teams.

Brian Nicholas, MD, FACS
ENT/Otolaryngology at White Plains Hospital Physician Associates

Dr. Brian D. Nicholas is Director of Hearing and Balance at White Plains Hospital, providing clinical, academic, and research leadership in Otolaryngology. He treats adults and children for hearing loss, ear infections, balance disorders, and skull base tumors.

Board-certified in Otolaryngology/ENT and Otology/Neurotology, Dr. Nicholas treats ear and skull-base conditions. He manages medical and surgical hearing and balance disorders, including cochlear implants, Meniere’s disease, acoustic neuromas/vestibular schwannomas, and bone-anchored hearing implants.

Dr. Nicholas earned his MD from Upstate Medical University (Syracuse), completed an Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University (Philadelphia), and a two-year fellowship in Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Virginia.

He has authored 30+ peer-reviewed articles on topics such as smoking’s effects on ear function, cochlear implantation, ototoxicity, concussion-related hearing and balance issues, and otologic aspects of cleft lip/palate. He has written several book chapters and frequently presents his work locally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Nicholas regularly travels abroad to provide expert otologic care and train surgeons in developing nations such as Ethiopia and Vietnam.
